And that employee becomes expensive to schedule a lot of hours on a shitty week lol.Īlso no. If a FT is lazy but getting the bare minimum done and follows DG policy, it will be difficult to fire or demote them.īut once promoted the associate's pay increases, which throws off the payroll budget. However, SMs can't just promote whoever they want whenever they want, because they have to have an open position available.
I can't speak for all managers, but the main reasons SMs would give more hours to a PT employee is because they are outstanding associates who can get a lot more done during their scheduled shifts than the FT and they were willing to come in on days off or cover extra shifts. If that part-time employee continues working full-time hours, then the SM should either promote or cut back their hours. If you were hired as a part-time associate and you were getting full-time hours, it will flag as a warning because part-time employees usually max out at 28 hours a week (according to the system).
When an hourly employee works over 40+ hours, the system will add the overtime worked plus time and a half pay, so you will see it on your pay stub the week after.
